When I'm not working as an award winning wedding photographer, I love to flex my skills as a family photographer, child photographer and a pet photographer. I also offer business photography for various purposes.. I love family and child photo shoots - there's nothing as rewarding as capturing love, which is why I also love weddings, but there's still so much pleasure in photographing a family and the raw love they have for each other. Pets - don't get me started on pets. I'm an absolute dog lover and I also have a real soft spots for cats.
My clients usually really enjoy their photo shoots - I try to make them an experience to remember; an opportunity to show of your best self and the real side of your family or pets. You will find even the most camera shy clients really getting into the photoshoot, especially children - they can be some of the most natural and photogenic subjects that a photographer can ever shoot. Children don't have that sense of shame that we develop as we age, and for them, a silly face, a laugh, a wide smile - it's all innocent - and it makes it so much easier for us to get some really natural photos that really let their personality shine through.
Photo shoots with families and kids aren't always about posed and smart looking photos - they can be fun, messy, exciting and raw. Photos of your kids doing things that they enjoy can be some of the most memorable photos that you can capture. We all love the posed portraits - but it's the photos of them climbing all over their sister or brother that will really tug on your heartstrings when you look back at them.
To me, photo shoots are all about showing the dynamic in each person or family that I shoot. I want the love, the laughter, the genuine moments that show the rawness of who you really are. I want the individual personalities of each different family that I shoot to shine through. I want the formal posed shots, the fun shots, the candid shots and the shots that bring a tear to your eye when you look back at them ten years later.
I have lots of experience dealing with group photos - being a wedding photographer has given me lots of experience on how to get the best photos of groups of people without ending up with one of them blinking or yawning, and how to get everyone looking great all at once in a creative and modern way.
Pets are also undeniably one of our most precious family members. They steal our hearts, captivate our minds and entangle themselves around our souls. Pets become such a huge part of our lives that they are more than just a best friend, they're part of the family itself. I love to work with animals, I have lots of experience handling and photographing all types of pets and as an animal lover myself, I understand the need to have lots of photos of them!
PHOTO SHOOT STYLES
During candid photo shoots I try to get all of the best blink-and-you'll-miss-it moments that you may not even notice happening yourself. People have so many subtleties and habits that most people don't even notice, but as a photographer, I've learnt over the years to watch people in a different way to a normal person, and it's my job to capture all of those individual things that make a person who they are, and the same applies to families and the way that they interact with each other.
Portraits make some of the most soulful and heartfelt photos that you can ever take. Taking portrait photos is about so much more than just getting the best photo of the subject, to me, it's about the raw and passionate feelings, the personality, the unique qualities that make people individual and the beauty that we all naturally have. My job is to take that recipe, and convey it all in an image.
I like to try and make sure that every photo that I take conveys some sort of emotion or meaning, because you can have the best portrait of a family, the best photo of a couple or a stunning picture of a child, but, if there's no spark or emotion in it, and it feels flat, lifeless and soulless, then I haven't done my job as a photographer. To me, taking the best pictures is about so much more than just getting some top looking photos - it's about the raw and passionate moments, the love, the raw feelings, the fun, the best bits of the day, the laughter and maybe most importantly of all - that spark in the eyes that stops our photos looking lifeless and gives an image a soul.
Just like my wedding photography, I also offer my luxury and bespoke hand editing service to all of the photo shoots that I offer. I don't outsource my editing to other companies, I don't use "filters" and I don't use batch editing techniques - each and every photo gets the top hand edited touch that it deserves to ensure that all of my work comes out the very best - my luxury hand editing service is one of the best things that sets me apart from other photographers. Natural photos look great, but creative editing is what I specialise in, and It's not only what I excel at - it's what my clients expect from me, and each and every one of my clients gets nothing less than the best from me and my work.
MY PHILOSOPHY AS A PHOTOGRAPHER
Photos are one of the most important things that we have as we get older. They remind of us cherished memories, the best times in our lives, memories of our youth, reminders of a different stage in our lives and our lives change so much over time that photos are the best way to remember our pasts. It's really important to get lots of photos of your family pets and kids, because as we get older, memories are all that we have, and memories are best preserved in the form of photos and videos. Although we can remember snapshots of time in our minds, we forget the little details that make people unique, and over time, the memories that we all cherish so much can fade.
I know only too well how important photos are. I've lost a few people who were really important to me over the years, and the photos of them are now all that I have left. I have a folder full of them, of everyone from my parents, to my brother, my partner, my grandparents and last but certainly not least - my pets.
I lost my first love early in 2018 - my beloved Rottweiler. She was the light of my life, she was with me through the good times and the bad, to say that it broke my heart would be an understatement - it broke me completely. Even as a professional photographer, I didn't take enough photos of her, as I work as a photographer full time, I don't often get my professional gear out at home, and I regretted not taking more photos of her so much that I cried about it endlessly. I have less photos of her than I give to each average wedding client. That really hurt me, and it made me feel so guilty. I've lost people in my life before, but that was many years ago when I was a child. Losing my dog, as silly as it may sound to those of you who don't have pets - was like losing a part of myself, and I now take so many photos of my puppy that it's ridiculous, but after the heartbreak of losing my girl, Tia, I know that I will need those photos one day, and that they will see me through another dark and horrible time.
I regretted every single thing that I could have done better - I worked too much and I didn't take her out enough to special places, I didn't buy her a new toy every month, every time I made her go to her bed and lay down because I was working - I regretted it. Every time I didn't have time to play with her because I was working - I regretted it. Every time I didn't sit and cuddle her when she wanted me too - I regretted it. It took me a long time to pick myself back up off the floor after she died, and still, to this day, the biggest regret that I have is that I do not have enough photos of her. I have something over a million photos that I've taken on my computer, yet I have a folder that I scraped together with all of her photos, and there are only 608 photos - and they are mostly mobile phone snaps where you take three in a row to get the best one.
After getting a little personal there, my point is - photos are never to be underestimated, especially of those we love and cherish, because one day, they will be all you have left, and from personal experience, I can tell you with my hand on my heart that if you don't have enough of them, you will kick yourself time and time again for it.
I cherish my personal photos so much that they're all backed up to the cloud, just in case I lose my copies on my computer or phone. Despite much protesting, I now document my family so much that they each have their own yearly folder. I know just how much I cherish those photos from my younger years and my deceased relatives and my beloved dog, and now that I'm older I realise how important that is, so I know that I'm going to cherish them even more as the years go on and people change and age.
I also offer business photo shoots. In this digital obsessed world, we all know that the best imagery sells. It's so important to have the right photos of your business or the best possible photos of your products, and crucially, in the right style. Trends for different types of business' move quickly, for example - food photography has become so styled and heavily edited that almost every photo looks like it's from some fancy magazine now, which is amazing. Food photography constantly amazes me in the way that it moves with the trends and times. Slate or wooden backgrounds are now commonly used with carefully arranged props and ingredients, to get a look that seems effortless, but is in-fact, anything but.
I cover almost all types of business' from produce shops, to bands, to niche craft artists to large shops. I work closely with a business to get the photos that they want, in the style that they want. You can be assured that by booking me as your photographer, you will not only get a top class service, but you will get a personalized approach to your business and your needs. For more information on bespoke business photography, get in touch. I have experience working with many different types of business', to see some of their lovely kind words, head over to my testimony page.

LIMITED TIME OFFER
I do not charge per image, you pay one flat fee for the photo shoot and you will receive all of the best images from the photo shoot. This really sets me apart from other photographers, especially in the family, child and newborn field, as you can end up paying £50 for your photo shoot, but then paying £150 for ten images from the shoot afterwards.
Pricing varies on locations and your desired length of the photo shoot - for example, if you would like a 4 hour photo shoot, additional charges may apply due to the time it takes to edit that many photos afterwards. My pricing is based on how long it takes me to hand edit the photos, and that’s all a part of my luxury and bespoke hand editing service.
For more information, or to discuss pricing for bespoke photo shoots, please get in touch. It would be my pleasure to discuss your individual needs and what I can offer you as a creative photographer.
